Ok so I live in northern Minnesota where it regularly hits -20°F in January and I've gone through probably 6 or 7 balaclavas over the years. Most of them either let wind through the mouth area or they get damp from your breath and then freeze, which defeats the whole purpose. This one is different. The wool is so dense that even when the wind is blowing sideways across the lake it doesn't get through. And somehow it doesn't get that gross wet feeling from breathing. I've worn it on 4 hour ice fishing trips and it stays dry. It's not the lightest thing in the world so I wouldn't wear it for running, but for standing or walking in real cold it's the best I've found. My husband tried it on once and I had to physically take it back. Will be ordering him one for his birthday.
