About this item

Seals the four-inch gap between your coat collar and your hairline -- without the bulk of a full scarf.

Alashan cashmere-wool blend -- 7% cashmere for the hand-feel against your skin, 93% wool for the structure. Cashmere-blend scarves at established brands start at $129+. This is $55.

  • 7% Alashan Cashmere / 93% Wool, knit
  • 160cm x 25cm -- coat-pocket compact
  • 115g -- you'll forget you packed it
  • Pulls on, no buttons, no buckles

The cashmere goes against your skin; the wool does the windwork -- two fibers, two jobs.

The part specs can't tell you --

The Details
  • Material: 7% Alashan Cashmere / 93% Wool
  • Knit: Ribbed, medium gauge
  • Dimensions: 160cm x 25cm
  • Weight: 115g
  • Closure: Pull-on

Hand wash cold with wool detergent or machine wash gentle in mesh bag. Lay flat to dry. Cashmere comb for any first-wear pills -- after that, the fiber settles.

The Narrative

There's a particular frustration that belongs to late October. You're dressed for it -- jacket, boots, a good outfit -- but you've left the house without a scarf. Now you're cold in exactly one place: that strip of skin above your collar. Four inches of exposed neck.

A full scarf would fix it. But a full scarf would also overwhelm the jacket. This collar is not a scarf. It behaves more like the neck of a good sweater -- just detached. Settles against your skin without the itch you expect, without the bulk you don't want.

Alashan fiber comes from the Inner Mongolian plateau, where winter drops to -30C. Harsh climate produces fine undercoat. Putting cashmere on the inside layer where you feel it -- and wool on the outside where you need structure -- is what makes a blend smarter than a single yarn.
