the polyester pouch fits phone wallet keys and thats it. my book and cardigan ride visible in the open weave part. fine for the beach, less fine for the city honestly
Fair take. The pouch is sized to hide the valuables and the open weave is the design trade around it. For a fully closed city bag our lined totes do that job better.

the weave is open so people could see in, except everything sits in the drawstring pouch. sunscreen and towel just go loose around it. the black trim rows hide scuffs too, the bottom edge still looks new.
